Miami Marlins vs Chicago Cubs :

The Chicago Cubs lost a heartbreaker Friday night in 17 innings, as the offense managed to score just one run and put together eight hits. The Cubs pitching staff more than held its own and gave the team chance after chance, but the bats were dead and weren’t coming alive as the game lasted over five hours. The Cubs have scored just one run in their last 19 innings, which isn’t something most expected heading into this series. Overall, Kris Bryant leads the Cubs with four hits and one RBI, while Willson Contreras and Addison Russell have combined for four hits and one RBI. The Chicago Cubs Yu Darvish gets the ball, and he was 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA and 209 strikeouts last season. Darvish is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins got a much needed feel good victory, as there’s nothing worse than killing your bullpen, playing five hours and losing. A Miguel Rojas single up the middle got the fish their first victory of the season and Derek Jeter’s first win as an owner. Overall, Lewis Brinson and Brian Andersn have combined for eight hits and two RBI while Derek Dietrich has three hits and one walk. The Miami Marlins have been competitive in their first two games, and it’s going to be interesting to see if they can continue to play with such a positive attitude, as this hasn’t looked like a team that’s supposed to lose 100-plus games. Odrisamer Despaigne gets the ball, and he was 2-3 with a 4.01 ERA and 31 strikeouts last season. This will be Despaigne’s second career game against the Cubs.

The Cubs are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. National League East, 7-3 in their last 10 during game 3 of a series and 19-9 in their last 28 games on grass. The Marlins are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games, 6-2 in their last 8 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 during game 3 of a series. The Cubs are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.

Odrisamer Despaigne likely isn’t going to start for Miami after pitching a little in the marathon, and it’s going to be interesting to see how these teams handle things after blowing through their bullpens. The Marlins have no starter worth a damn if we’re being honest. Not easy to play right after playing 17 innings. Regardless, the Cubs have Darvish on the mound, a guy who wasn’t good in the postseason but was plenty good in the regular season and has the stuff to quiet a Miami lineup that needs to put together two or three hits to score. I don’t like laying heavy juice, so I’ll take the RL to add value to this bet.

The Philadelphia 76ers are allowing 33.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.2 rebounds per game. The Philadelphia 76ers have won four straight road games.

The Charlotte Hornets look to play spoiler here after splitting their last eight games. The Charlotte Hornets are averaging 107.8 points on 44.8 percent shooting and allowing 107.8 points on 46.8 percent shooting. Kemba Walker is averaging 23 points and 5.7 assists while Dwight Howard is averaging 16.7 points and 12.3 rebounds. Jeremy Lamb is the third double-digit scorer and Frank Kaminsky is grabbing 3.6 rebounds. The Charlotte Hornets are shooting 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 74.4 percent from the free throw line. The Charlotte Hornets are allowing 37.4 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 45.4 rebounds per game. The Charlotte Hornets have won six of their last nine home games.

The 76ers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Hornets are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 0 days rest, 17-40-1 ATS in their last 58 vs. NBA Atlantic and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The 76ers are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Charlotte, 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

The Philadelphia 76ers may be without their best player, but they’re still head and shoulders the better team in this matchup, outscoring teams by more than 13 points in their last five games. The Charlotte Hornets have pretty much nothing to play for at this point and are on the end of a back to back after getting beat up by the Washington Wizards. You guys know I haven’t been high on the Hornets at all this season, as it’s Kemba or bust for this team. I’ll gladly take the better team still playing for seeding and the small chalk.

The Boston Bruins look for another victory after winning five of their last eight games. The Boston Bruins are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 23 percent of their power play opportunities. Brad Marchand leads Boston with 34 goals, David Pastrnak has 44 assists and Patrice Bergeron has 203 shots on goal. Defensively, the Boston Bruins are allowing 2.5 goals per game and are killing 82.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Tuukka Rask has given up 113 goals on 1,385 shots faced and Anton Khudobin has allowed 70 goals on 824 shots. The Boston Bruins have allowed two or less goals in five of their last six games

The Philadelphia Flyers look for a statement victory after splitting their last 10 games. The Philadelphia Flyers are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 20 percent of their power play opportunities. Sean Couturier leads Philadelphia with 31 goals, Jakub Voracek has 66 assists and Claude Giroux has 181 shots on goal. Defensively, the Philadelphia Flyers are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 75.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Brian Elliott has given up 109 goals on 1,189 shots faced and Michal Neuvirth has allowed 45 goals on 530 shots. The Philadelphia Flyers have allowed three or less goals in eight of their last 11 games.

The Bruins are 21-10 in their last 31 road games, 2-6 in their last 8 Sunday games and 43-17 in their last 60 overall. The Flyers are 5-2 in their last 7 Sunday games, 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win and 3-8 in their last 11 vs. Eastern Conference. The Bruins are 11-4 in the last 15 meetings in Philadelphia, 21-6 in the last 27 meetings and the home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

The Boston Bruins have been money on the road all season long and have owned the Flyers as far as you can go back, but they’re on the end of a back to back, and this is an extremely early game. I usually like to side with the home team with start times this soon, as it’s a lot easier to get out of your own bed and what not for games like this. It also feels like a statement game for the Flyers, as they’ve been hit or miss down the stretch and need a confidence boosting win heading into the playoffs. Give me the Flyers on their home ice.
