The Florida Panthers have made a strong run to keep their postseason hopes alive but back to back defeats leave the team three points behind New Jersey for the last playoff spot in the East. Florida comes off of a 3-2 OT loss at Ottawa where Aaron Ekblad and Evgenii Dadonov scored in the second with James Reimer allowing three goals on 30 shots.
The Senators received regulation tallies off the sticks of Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Magnus Paajarvi before Pageau scored his second at 4:44 of the extra session. Craig Anderson improved to 22-23-6 with two goals allowed on 26 shots.
The Boston Bruins have been playing well this past week with wins in three of four after upending Tampa Bay 4-2 on Thursday night. The high powered Lightning offense saw JT Miller and Vctor Hedman light the lamp with Andrei Vasilevskiy getting the loss with three goals allowed on 29 shots.
Tim Schaller, David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand provided the scoring for the Bruins. Bergeron and Torey Krug added a pair of helpers for Boston and Tuukka Rask improved to 33-11-5 with a 26 save performance.
Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-0-1 in Panthers last 5 Saturday games and Panthers are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games. Over is 6-1 in Bruins last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and over is 5-1-1 in Bruins last 7 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Bruins are 21-5 in their last 26 games playing on 1 days rest. Panthers are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings in Boston and Panthers are 6-24 in the last 30 meetings and under is 20-8-6 in the last 34 meetings.
The Panthers are very dangerous because they are desperate but I’m still going with the Bruins pending goalies
