The Avalanche have been red hot at home, winners of 10 straight games. They now look to continue their winning ways on the road in Winnipeg, where the Jets are battling for top spot in the Central division.

This will be the fourth match-up of the season between these two Central division rivals. In their most recent game back on Feb. 3, the Jets blanked the Avs 3-0 behind Connor Hellebuyck’s 25 save shutout. Last season the Jets took three of five games against the Avalanche, and since February of 2016, they are 5-2 overall.

These two franchises have met 39 times all-time, with the Jets having the slight edge at 20-18-1. The home team in this head-to-head series is 7-0 in its last seven games, and the Avalanche are 2-8 in their last 10 meetings in Winnipeg. Also the under is 5-1 between these two teams in the last six games.

The Avalanche are coming off a 2-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens Wednesday night. Semyon Varlamov stopped 44 shots to record his second shutout of the season and 14th win. The Avalanche are unbeaten at home since December 27 (ten straight wins) now they hit the road where they are 11-14-3 this season and 31-21-4 overall (4-5-1 in their last ten games). Varlamov is expected to make his 29th start of the season against the Jets.

The Avs are still missing the services of MVP candidate Nathan MacKinnon and are 3-3 since his injury. MacKinnon continues to skate by himself in non-contact drills, and still is about a week away from returning to the line-up. He leads the Avalanche in scoring with 24 goals and 37 assists.

The Jets are coming off a 4-3 come-from-behind overtime win over the Washington Capitals Tuesday night. Mark Scheifele played hero in this one, scoring the tying goal with 15 seconds left in the third and setting up Tyler Myers for the overtime winner. The Jets are now 33-15-9 (6-2-2 in their last ten games) and snapped a mild two game losing streak.

The Jets are 21-5-2 at home and 8-6-2 against the Central division this season. It should come as no surprise that Connor Hellebuyck will make the start Friday night. It will be his 46th start of the year. Keep an eye on first year player Kyle Connor.

After starting off the season with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) he has produced at the NHL level scoring 18 goals and 17 assists in 51 games. Good for fifth in team scoring and seventh overall among rookie scoring.
